What districts say about their decision process:
District leaders say they typically decide by 8 p.m. the night before if they expect classes to be impacted the next day. In rare cases, they could wait until 5 a.m. on the day of scheduled classes.
Elgin ISD leaders say they will notify the community of any changes to the school day or activities through social media, phone, email, and text.
GISD said information is available on their website and that social media will be the immediate way to update families and staff. Schedule changes will then be shared through a direct email to staff and families, as well as posted to social media.
In the event of a delay, the district says parents should review their child's campus hours and bus schedule.
The district is asking families to be weather aware and review its Bad Weather Procedures.
According to LISD, the superintendent will decide no later than 5 a.m. on the day of scheduled classes.
As soon as a decision is made, LISD will call, text and email all parents and staff. The information will also be posted on their website and all social media platforms. LISD says if you don't get any notifications, classes will continue as usual.
The district said if there is a delay or cancellation of classes, families will be notified by phone, email, and text if their contact information is up to date in Skyward.
PfISD said they will decide after consulting with emergency management, law enforcement and other school districts, along with transportation and facilities staff members.
School-wide or district-wide changes will prompt the district to send out an email, text and phone call, along with social media and website announcements.
Officials say to check Skyward to make sure your information is up-to-date.
