AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Independent School District leaders are focusing on addressing equity in schools.
Officials held a town hall on Saturday for families who wanted to learn more about equity. The issue has been a hot topic since district leaders decided to close several schools last year to address budget concerns.
Many parents are upset about Pease Elementary School closing – and some say the school closures unfairly targeted minority students.

Those parents are hoping district leaders will take their feedback and put it into action.
"We can have the meetings and we can have community members come take time out of their day and make comments, but what we want to see at the end of the day is that we've been heard," said Rose Guajardo, a Pease Elementary parent.
Austin ISD officials plan to host another town hall in July.
