PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Everyone is safe after Hendrickson High School was briefly put on hold Wednesday afternoon, Pflugerville ISD confirmed to KVUE.
The district shared a letter sent from Principal Michael Grebb to families, stating that the campus was put on a brief hold while a district police officer detained a student "on a specific issue." Pflugerville ISD said the student does not attend Hendrickson High School.
Grebb said rumors circulating that there was a man with a gun on campus are false, adding that no weapons were ever on campus and students were never in any danger. He said firefighters and medics responded to the campus out of an abundance of caution.
Grebb said a hold is called when hallways need to be kept clear. During a hold, teachers recover any students and staff from the hallways and move them into locked classrooms. Students then remain in the classrooms, continuing business as usual, until they are dismissed. Grebb said if there was an immediate threat within the school, the campus would be placed on a lockdown, not a hold.
He added that he knows parents' No. 1 priority is the safety of their children and said that is the school's No. 1 priority as well.
"We will never hesitate to call PfISD Police for help to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and campus," Grebb wrote. "Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me."
Wednesday is Pflugerville ISD's last day of classes.
