Lake Travis ISD superintendent placed on paid leave amid misconduct allegations

The board has not disclosed the nature of the allegations.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Lake Travis ISD school board placed the district’s superintendent on paid leave on Tuesday night following allegations of misconduct.

In a statement, the board said it reviewed a report containing new information about allegations against Superintendent Paul Norton during a closed session. The board has not disclosed the nature of the allegations.

At the end of the closed session, trustees voted unanimously to place Norton on paid administrative leave effective immediately.

The board also voted to name Pam Sanchez as acting superintendent. Sanchez has been with the school district since October 2020, serving as assistant superintendent for business services.

“We understand that this decision may raise questions and concerns, and we want to assure our staff, students, families and the greater Lake Travis community that the board remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a fair and thorough process,” said board President Erin Archer. “Our primary focus continues to be the success and well-being of all those we serve.”

Archers said the board is “committed to transparency” and will provide updates as circumstances allow going forward.
