PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Pflugerville ISD has picked its interim superintendent.
During its special meeting on Thursday, the Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees announced Dr. Steve Flores will serve as interim superintendent. He will take over for Dr. Douglas Killian, who served the district for nearly seven years and was recently named superintendent of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, the state's third-largest school district.
Flores is a former superintendent of Round Rock ISD and Harlingen CISD. He served five years at Harlingen and seven years at Round Rock, where he retired in 2020.
Most recently, Flores served as interim superintendent of Taylor ISD for the fall 2023 semester.
Flores previously worked in Pflugerville ISD for about 20 years and said he's happy to be back for the short-term.
"I hope that I can bring some value in the short time I'm here and just let the staff know it's going to be okay," Flores said.
Killian's last day with Pflugerville ISD will be Dec. 31.
