SAN MARCOS, Texas — Editor's note: Texas State University has extended spring break and from March 30 through April 12, "organized lecture, seminar, and laboratory courses" at Texas State will be held remotely, the president said.
Thousands of people have signed a petition calling on Texas State University to hold classes online after spring break as concerns surrounding coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, continue to grow.
This comes after University of Texas leaders announced they are considering holding classes fully online after spring break.
As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 8,000 people signed the petition, which is asking the university to close the San Marcos, Texas, campus for two weeks after the break.
The university confirmed on Tuesday that no coronavirus cases have been reported on its San Marcos or Round Rock campuses. However, out of an abundance of caution, TXST said it's monitoring 10 people who are self-isolating at home after traveling internationally.
The university's policy is self-isolation for 14 days after traveling to a "CDC-designated Level 2 or 3 country."

On Monday KVUE confirmed a Dell employee traveling from Austin, Texas, to India tested positive for COVID-19.
