AUSTIN, Texas — Former University of Texas tennis coach Michael Center plans to plead guilty to taking $100,000 in bribes to get a student into UT.
Center is a part of a massive college cheating scandal that involved at least 12 coaches and parents. Federal investigators said they used a fake organization called "Key Worldwide Foundation" to pay bribes getting unqualified students enrolled in schools across the country.
On Thursday, Center made his initial appearance in federal court. He was released on a $50,000 bond and he was told he is not allowed to move, he had to surrender his passport to the Office of Probation and Pretrial Services and he must cooperate with the collection of a DNA sample if authorized.

It has been released by the United States Attorney's Office on Monday that Center agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
A plea hearing for Center has not yet been scheduled.
The University of Texas released the following statement about the news:
"The university learned today of the guilty plea. We continue to cooperate with federal law enforcement. Our highest priority is to complete our internal review to determine whether UT has the necessary rules and procedures in place to prevent someone from committing violations in the future. "
