USPS post office on UT Austin campus set to close later this month

The postal service said the lease for the building that currently houses the post office on Inner Campus Drive was not renewed.

AUSTIN, Texas — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is closing a post office on the University of Texas at Austin campus.

USPS confirmed to KVUE that its lease on the building that currently houses the "University Austin" post office at 306 Inner Campus Drive was not renewed, and postal operations at that location will cease on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. USPS said signage has been posted to alert customers to the change.

The postal service said it is continuing to "actively explore viable options for another location," but in the meantime, customers can get full retail services at the Central Park Station, located at 3507 N. Lamar Blvd., from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

P.O Box customers may obtain a box at the following locations for the duration of their current term at no additional cost:

  • Central Park (3507 N. Lamar Blvd.)
  • Capitol (111 E. 17th St.)
  • West Austin (2418 Spring Lane)

USPS said a letter was provided to all P.O. Box customers with additional details.
