GALLERY | From Foo Fighters to Mudfest, here's KVUE's top 10 ACL photos

The Austin City Limits Music Festival 2018 is only days away. Let's get in the mood by taking a trip down ACL memory lane.

AUSTIN — With ACL just around the corner, take a trip down memory lane with KVUE news photographer John Gusky's top 10 favorite ACL photos from the last 10 years.

KVUE's top 10 ACL Festival photos

10. Mudfest 2009. Who can forget the mudfest of 2009? The heavy rain, and the use of a certain brand of landscaping dirt, made for a rather malodorous combination.

9. LL Cool J 2016. I think we made eye contact!

8. Fake Moon 2008. I just like the composition and the movement ... makes a serene image.

7. Sign language interpreter JoAnn Benfield 2017. I shot this as part of a feature on ASL interpreters. They really get into the music!

6. Red Hot Chili Peppers 2017. 'Cuz, Red Hot Chili Peppers...

5. Tom Petty tribute 2017. Just before Spoon took the stage, skydivers parachuted overhead, wowing the crowd while the PAs blared out Petty's "Free Fallin'."

4. Young the Giant Fans in the rain 2011. More rain ... more evidence that nothing will dampen ACL fans' musical spirits.

3. Social Distortion 2011. I just think this image of Mike Ness, with the light the way it was, the sweat and the work expressed on his face, sums up a Social D concert.

2. Cage The Elephant 2016. When frontman Matt Schultz came down into the photo pit to get closer to fans ... makes for photo gold.

1. Foo Fighters 2008. Dave Grohl is not known for standing still while singing, to say the least. This image demonstrates those very lucky happy accidents that we sometimes can score when we just hit the shutter, and worry about the rest later. All the others are hard to rank in order. But this is easily my No. 1 favorite pic.
