AUSTIN — Music festival season is far from over, and it looks like Austin is getting yet another one. However, this event's a little different.
The inaugural Waterloo Music Festival is slated for Sep. 7 through 9 at Carson Creek Ranch, and according to event organizers, it's a curated, artist-driven niche experience that speaks to the growing interest in the music festival industry.
At Waterloo, the music is mainly of the "jam" variety, featuring artists like The String Cheese Incident, Oteil & Friends and JRAD (the band's first Texas show). It will also feature funk from Pimps of Joytime, reggae from Easy Star All-Stars, and the debut of local super jam Austin Groove Project, which is comprised of powerhouses Tameca Jones, Jackie Venson, Alesia Lani, The Peterson Brothers, D Madness and Jon Keyz.
Founded by Heard Presents, Havin' A Ball Productions and Unknown Entertainment, the festival will feature three full days of world renowned jam bands playing alongside some of Austin's local favorites. Just 10 minutes from downtown, the music festival will also feature camping in Carson Creek Ranch's campgrounds near the banks of the Colorado River.
