Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirms to WFAA that he plans to bow out from "Shark Tank" upon the completion of the business reality show's 16th season.
Cuban first revealed the news while appearing as a guest last week on the Showtime podcast "All The Smoke" hosted by former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.
The 15th season of "Shark Tank" began airing on ABC on September 29, 2023,
Cuban first appeared on the show as a guest "shark" during its second season in 2011. He then officially joined the cast as one of its permanent investors as the show entered its third season in 2012, replacing informercial magnate Kevin Harrington. With Cuban on board as a regular player on the show, "Shark Tank" enjoyed a ratings spike that would even spill over into big re-run ratings on CNBC throughout the years.
But after one more season in the tank, and 14 in total as part of the show's cast, Cuban says he will be hanging up his ownership stake (so to speak) in the show.
In a statement to WFAA, Cuban confirmed the news, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.
"Just to spend more time with my kids," he said. "They are 14, 17 and 20. I want to be able to spend summers with them before they are on their own."
And, for that reason, he's out.
