First bike share system for The Domain in Austin to launch Saturday

Domain BCycle will be the first bike share system for The Domain in Austin. The bikes will be placed by Bike Share of Austin, the non-profit operator of the Austin B-Cycle system.

AUSTIN, Texas — Bike Share of Austin is the non-profit operator of the Austin B-cycle system that can be seen downtown. The organization announced they will be launching the first bike share service at The Domain, called Domain BCycle.

The organization stated the launch will be on Saturday, Feb. 16.

“As Bike Share of Austin looks to expand shared-use vehicle services in Austin, we are thrilled to be working with our community partners to bring cutting edge technology in the next step in bike share to The Domain,” said Elliott McFadden, Executive Director of Bike Share of Austin 

Bike Share of Austin will deploy 100 of their new 'Dash' smart bikes at The Domain. The new 'Dash' bikes have built-in on-board computers with an interactive screen that has GPS connectivity for directions.

The bikes will be available for rental and return at 20 stations throughout The Domain.

The price to rent a Domain BCycle will be $1 to unlock and $2/30 minutes. The bikes will also be available for yearly rentals of $80 for unlimited trips up to 60 minutes. Those who are already annual members with Austin B-Cycle will also have access to Domain BCycle with no additional charge.
