Furloughed workers still need to pay property taxes by deadline, Travis County collectors say

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Travis County tax collectors said despite the shutdown, all furloughed workers will still have to meet the property tax deadline by the end of January.

If you don't pay it, new interest rates kick in on Feb. 1. 

Check your mortgage company to see if they can pay delinquent taxes and then apply the bill to your monthly payments. Let the county know you won;t make the deadline in full so you can create a payment plan.
