Georgetown businesses impacted by gas leak receive help from City Council, chamber

The City Council announced on Tuesday it will be waiving temporary sign permit fees for businesses affected by the Atmos Energy gas leaks.

GEORGETOWN, Texas — At a meeting on Tuesday, the Georgetown City Council approved waiving temporary sign permit fees for businesses impacted by the Atmos Energy gas leaks.

The underground gas leak was found Feb. 20, but after the leak was repaired Atmos has continued to work on other leaks in the area.

Last Friday, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce held a meeting for businesses being impacted by the leaks to listen to concerns and ideas with city leaders, county leaders and Atmos Energy.

The chamber created a website where people can see the current status of businesses along Williams Drive that are being impacted by the gas leak, showing whether they are open, closed or working from a temporary location.

You can see the website they created, here.
