AUSTIN --Good news for entrepreneurs, Austin is going to be Google's eigth Tech Hub.
Google and Capital Factory today announced their partnership -- That means Google resources for Austin start-up companies, including discounted products, connections to other tech hubs in the U-S, and the opportunity to be a part of Google's Demo Day.
This really significant because Google is recognizing Austin and Capital Factory as one of the most important up-and-coming tech areas in the country. This also means that we're going to get a lot of resources here in Austin, said Joshua Baer, executive director of Capital Factory.
Austin's mayor agrees.
I guess it's an honor that I have to say, I think we deserve here. We've been such an important part of the worldwide technology network for so many years now, it's just such a huge part of our economy, said Mayor Lee Leffingwell.
Mayor Lee Leffingwell says 26 percent of all Austin jobs are in the tech business, and he expects this will only bring more to the city.
