AUSTIN, Texas — There's a new clinic open in East Austin to provide low-income residents with access to heart, lung and kidney care.
The Rosewood-Zaragosa Clinic at Webberville and Pleasant Valley roads first opened in 1982 as a neighborhood health center. Travis County's public hospital district renovated the building and reopened it to the public this week.
There's also an on-site pharmacy, dietician and behavioral health counseling center.
The clinic will serve patients in Central Health’s Medical Access Program (MAP) who are referred by their primary care providers. Central Health expects the clinic to significantly reduce wait times for patients and provide 25,000 to 40,000 visits annually.
The money comes from Central Health's Healthcare Equity Plan, a $682 million plan to add more clinics and services throughout Travis County over the next seven years.
