COVID-19 numbers:
- Texas: More than 638,300 cases have been reported in the state, and more than 13,400 people in Texas have died, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Central Texas counties:
- Travis County: Over 26,900 cases have been reported and at least 394 people have died. At least 25,755 people have recovered from the virus.
- Hays County: More than 5,400 confirmed cases have been reported and at least 50 people have died. At least 3,434 people have recovered from the virus.
- Williamson County: More than 8,000 cases have been reported in the county and at least 128 people have died. More than 7,700 people have recovered from the virus.

Updates:
6:22 p.m. – Travis County reported 69 new COVID-19 cases and one new death. The county has now has 27,038 cases and 395 deaths since the pandemic began.

6 p.m. – Gov. Greg Abbott issued a proclamation extending his disaster declaration for all Texas counties in response to COVID-19. The disaster declaration was originally issued on March 13 and provides the State a variety of resources to effectively serve Texans as the Lone Star State continues to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
"Renewing this disaster declaration helps ensure that we have the resources and strategies in place to help communities across Texas respond to COVID-19," said Gov. Abbott. "I urge Texans to take precautionary steps to protect their health by wearing a mask, social distancing, and sanitizing their hands. Working together, we will slow the spread and keep our communities safe.”
4:20 p.m. – More than 1,200 kids and almost 2,400 staff in Texas child care centers have tested positive for COVID-19, according to new numbers from the Department of State Health Services. To learn more about cases at facilities in the Austin area, click here.
1:40 p.m. – As of Sept. 6, Texas State University has reported 69 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of September, with two new cases reported Sunday.
As of Sept. 7, the University of Texas has reported 124 cases since the beginning of Sept, and 42 in all of August. Twenty-two cases were added on Friday.
8:30 a.m. – Austin ISD announced it's expanding its WiFi bus hours. Starting Sept. 8 through Oct. 5, WiFi buses will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. AISD will also double its WiFi bus fleet to 261.
