AUSTIN, Texas — It all started with wanting to practice.
DJ Mel, a local Austin DJ, was wanting to work on his DJ set even if bars and clubs were closed. So he took it online to Facebook Live to share with his friends who were here in Austin.
He said it started off just like any other time he had broadcast his sets live -- a few people but not too many. But, at some point when he looked at his streaming computer, he noticed that thousands of people had joined his live stream.
He said that this was just a small way he could think of to spread positivity to the people who are sad after being cooped up from COVID-19.
"I'm providing this thing for people to forget about, you know, current events, being cooped up in the house being isolated, and they're giving me an opportunity to do what I love, and for that, I'm super grateful," said Mel.
Now, if you missed his first one, no worries, he'll be streaming again this Saturday on his Facebook page from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
