WASHINGTON -- The American Medical Association said Monday that it was getting behind ending all non-medical exemptions for immunizations, according to Forbes.
The move by the AMA, the largest doctor group in the country, comes just months after an outbreak of measles that started at Disneyland struck hundreds in California.
According to Forbes, the AMA said there is not a scientific bases for non-medical exemptions and that the use of those exemptions puts the entire public's health at risk. Forbes reported AMA members found that more than 100 reports and peer-reviewed scientific papers found zero relationship between vaccinations and autism.
Texas is among the states that allow for an exemption from immunizations for "reasons of conscience."
