Hendrickson star Dylan Disu soars to new heights

At 6 feet 8 inches, rising star Dylan Disu recently signed on to play college basketball for Vanderbilt.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — As a senior in high school, Henrickson's four-star forward Dylan Disu has already achieved one of his greatest dreams.

"Probably like, one of the best days of my life, personally," Disu said.

That being the day he signed on to play basketball for Vanderbilt.

"I took my official visit and I just, I fell in love with Vanderbilt as a whole. I love the coaching staff, everything they preach about and it's a family. Also, I love the academics," Disu said.

His intelligence and athletic ability caught the attention of Vandy's coaching staff, but his eye-popping height likely did too. Disu grew nine inches between his freshman and junior seasons, standing at a whopping 6'8".

His growth spurt may have reached its peak, but his abilities on the court can take him to greater heights.

"He's going to do all the little things," Hendrickson head coach Dustin White said. "Even though he's already signed and committed to Vanderbilt, he's always hustling and diving on the floor, always rebounding."

Coach White went on to say Disu is the "baddest dude on the court."

"I think he means that I bring a different level of toughness to the court. I'm not going to let dudes just try to bully me and my teammates," Disu said.

What he wants to do is take this show to the pros.

"That's definitely the goal," he said. "I would love to play professional sports because that's living the dream to get paid to play basketball."

Whether he plays in the NBA, serves as a sports analyst, or ventures into the business world, he's got plenty of time for that. For now, the focus is on the playoffs.

Hendrickson plays Spring in the area round of the playoffs this Friday in Brenham.
