AUSTIN, Texas — According to a Facebook post by Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation, Marble Falls namesake is typically hidden seven feet below the water at Lake Marble Falls, but thanks to the lowering of the lake, the falls are visible again.
In the post, the corporation states the landmark was often referred to by travelers as "Great Falls" or "Marble Falls" dating back to 1817.
The falls will only be visible through Feb. 24, as the water will be raised again at that time.
The lake is being lowered for now to allow residents to recover from the Texas floods that occurred in October of last year.
The lakes should be fully filled again by Feb. 28.
