After leaving KVUE in March of 2008 to pursue my teaching degree, I am thrilled to be back with my KVUE family. For the past two years I have been teaching 8th grade Earth Science at Running Brushy Middle School in the Leander Independent School District. I loved my time in the classroom and have great respect for the faculty and staff I worked with at my school. However, I was presented with an amazing opportunity to come back to KVUE to work part-time, which would allow me more time to spend with our two amazing daughters, Alexa and Julia. You could say weather is in their blood as both their mom and dad (former KVUE meteorologist Micah McCauley) are weather geeks at heart. You may recall that I used my maiden name, Torok, when I was last on the air.
I came to KVUE in Feb. 2000 from my hometown of Phoenix, Az. Before coming to Austin, I was the weekend meteorologist and reporter at KPNX in Phoenix.
I am a proud Wildcat! I graduated in May of 1996 from the University of Arizona in Tucson, with a degree in Atmospheric Sciences. After graduation, I headed to the Pacific Northwest where I worked as the morning meteorologist and reporter for KDRV in Medford, Ore. While there, I was recognized by the National Weather Service for providing outstanding weather support for Northern California and Southern Oregon.
I am a member of the American Meteorological Society and was awarded their Seal of Approval.
The most frequent question I am asked here in Texas is about my name. If you think it sounds unique, you're right. I am 100 percent Hungarian. I was the first one in my family born in the United States after my family immigrated from Hungary and Czechoslovakia.
