PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — If you've ever wondered how our beloved K9 officers are protected in the field, look no further.
A non-profit organization, 'Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.,' donated a bullet and stab protective vest to the Pflugerville Police Department's K9 Isa, Lubo, and Tymo.
K9 Isa’s vest is sponsored by Ruth Knoll of Kalua Kona, Hawaii and will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Frosty”. K9 Lubo’s vest is sponsored by Kristen Emmett of Southampton, Massachusetts and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love- Trained to Serve- Loyal Always”. K9 Tymo’s vest is sponsored by Kathleen Clark of West Burke, Vermont and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Honoring Those Who Served and Sacrificed”.

The non profit organization, based in Massachusetts, was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. In the last ten years, 'Vested Interested in K9s, Inc.' has provided over 3,300 protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million dollars.
The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $950.00. Each vest has a value between $1,744 – $2,283 and a five-year warranty, and an average weight of 4-5 lbs.
