'Little rescue.' ATCEMS takes a deer detour to reunite mother and fawn

It was dear deer reunion Tuesday morning when medics spotted a fawn dangerously close to the road.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Travis County EMS medics took a sweet detour this week to help out a little deer in need.

Medics H. Martinez and P. Jacobsen spotted the duo on the side of the road early Tuesday morning, and it appeared the mother hopped over some brush that was too tall for the fawn to get through.

"No worries, we're always here to lend a helping hand," ATCEMS said.

Though the wary mother darted away when medics approached, they were able to give the fawn a little boost over the brush and send it back to safety.

"Sometimes we could all use a 'little rescue,'" said medics.
