AUSTIN, Texas — A Pokémon pop-up bar expected to debut in Austin next year has taken a critical hit.
"Despite being unaffiliated with Pokémon Nintendo, we unfortunately have been given no other option but to change the name of the event and a number of elements," a spokesperson told KVUE. "We are currently in the process of rebranding and relaunching the event. All customers who purchased tickets were contacted on Friday and given the option to either transfer the tickets to the relaunch event or receive a full refund."
The pop-up Pokébar on a worldwide tour was expected to make a one-day stop in Austin on Jan. 25, 2020.
There, organizers previously said you'd find a variety of Pokémon to catch spanning different generations. If you collected Pokémon from each region, you'd get the chance to become the "ultimate winner."
Tickets were being sold out at $45 and were expected to include a Pokémon-themed burger and drink. Other Poké-perks included trivia games, DJs, a costume contest and more.
