AUSTIN — A group of friends is warning the public to be aware of their surroundings after they were almost hit by large rocks as they were standing outside a car in East Austin on Thanksgiving morning.
The group said a black sedan zoomed past them and threw two large rocks at their car at 4 a.m. on the corner of 13th Street and Maple Avenue.
One of the large rocks allegedly hit the car that they were standing next to.

The side-view mirror of that car was nearly knocked off, along with multiple dents and scratches. The friends said the rock was huge and looked like a piece of concrete.
While the damage to the car is bad, they're just happy they weren't hurt and believe the impact from a rock that big could have killed them.

The friends, who later filed a police report, believe the people in the black sedan were in their teens or early twenties.
