The Cap10k race, the largest 10k race in Texas, was cancelled for the first time ever.
On the event's Facebook page was written the following:
"It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that the 42nd Statesman Cap10K has been canceled. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment. We are disappointed too, but nothing is more important than the safety of our thousands of runners and hundreds of volunteers along the course. We will email you as soon as we can about further details. The next race is on April 5, 2020. Thank you."
That didn't stop a few runners from running a 10K during the soaking Sunday morning.
The rain was on and off in some spots and made some low water crossings virtually inaccessible. Signs reading "Turn Around Don't Drown" still sit in front of some of those paths Sunday.
