Police investigating apparent murder-suicide in North Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide in North Austin on Wednesday morning, June 19.

According to police, officers received a call around 1 a.m. where a man said, “My wife is in the bedroom. I’m outside.”

Officers arriving on the scene at 10613 Macmora Road, near Metric Boulevard and Kramer Lane, found 58-year-old Suzanne Bailey inside with a gunshot wound to the head. Austin-Travis County EMS took Bailey to Dell Seton Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead at 9:10 a.m.

Officers also found 53-year-old Joshua Lockwood in the backyard with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:28 a.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to the scene and spoke with witnesses. Investigators believe Lockwood shot his wife, Bailey, before taking his own life.
