AUSTIN — The Austin Film Festival is celebrating 25 years of filmmaking Thursday night,
Celebrities like Natalie Portman, Austin directors Richard Linklater and Robert Rodriguez are slated to attend. The film festival likes to pride itself on being a writer's conference.

KVUE spoke with Austin Film Festival Co-Founder and Executive Director Barbara Morgan. She said people who started their careers at the first film festival will be speaking there 25 years later and mentioned that their careers have taken off.
Screen writers such as Bill Whitliff, who wrote the screenplay for "The Perfect Storm," and Bill Broyles, who wrote the screenplay for "Cast Away" and "Jarhead."
"The most reflective part of this for me is that it's been pretty cool working with writers who are just the most loyal people," said Barbara Morgan. "They care.They give back. They love talking about their craft."
There will be a free family friendly screening of Disney's Coco on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, followed by Hocus Pocus at 7 p.m. There will aso be a free Paramount Tent that will feature "Claymation Creation" from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and "Made in Texas" from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
