AUSTIN -- The Austin Independent School District began accepting requests for transfer students for next school year on Monday.
Applications for priority and non-priority transfers to be considered in the first-round lottery process will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Jan. 30. The last day to submit a request for a non-priority transfer is Aug. 10.
Parents and guardians can submit transfer requests at the Office of Student Services at the Carruth Administration Center at 1111 West Sixth Street between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. daily. Transfer request forms can be picked up at the Office of Student Services or at an AISD school.
The district said parents submitting requests for students who are new to the district or who have had an address change since enrolling in school this year need to provide proof of residence and a photo ID. Parents must provide a birth certificate for students new to the district.
Currently, 23 Austin ISD schools are frozen to new transfers. Twenty other schools are being monitored and could possibly be frozen for the 2015-2016 school year. Go here for a full list of frozen schools.
