AUSTIN, Texas — City leaders may be taking steps to keep crime out of an area in Downtown Austin.

Leaders proposed building a 10-foot fence and gate system to block off an alley near 7th and Red River Street. They alley runs between the Beerland Bar and the building that used to be the Sidewinder Bar.

Leaders said the alley is a hotspot for drugs and organized crimes.

According to Community Impact, leaders say the fence would only be a temporary fix.
