Austin man is last Travis County registered voter minutes before midnight due to flight delay

The last day to register to vote in Texas was Oct. 9. Now, early voting starts Oct. 22.

AUSTIN — Now that the deadline to register to vote in Texas has passed, we're looking toward the next big date. Early voting starts Oct. 22.

Some people pushed it right up to the midnight deadline Oct. 9. Travis County's voter registrar posted a picture of the last person to register to vote at 11:57 p.m.

Gilbert Miro's flight back home to Austin was delayed. But he made it over to the tax office just before midnight to register.

We appreciate his dedication to voting in this upcoming election!

Now that everyone -- hopefully -- is registered, they can read up on the big issues in KVUE's voter guide here.
