Austin — Austin police are helping neighbors stay cool.
Some officers delivered air conditioning units to area residents around Austin on Tuesday. In the morning, they visited the Costilla family in East Austin.
The family of five had been living without central AC and were using box fans. But with temperatures hitting triple digits this summer, they were concerned for the welfare of the grandparents.
"We just worry about them getting dehydrated or overheating because it has happened to our grandmother once before where we had to take her to the hospital before, where the ambulance had to be called out because it got too hot for her," said Chris Costilla.
