AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Austin Police Department has started taking applications for their 2019 Police Academy, and no prior law enforcement experience is required to apply.
Police Academy graduates will serve as patrol officers around Austin and then later join one of over 50 specialized units within the department, such as SWAT or Lake Patrol.
Interested applicants must satisfy these requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen (by birth or naturalized)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 20.5 but younger than 46 years of age when applying
Applications will be accepted until Monday, Dec. 17, 2018.
