Another Chase bank in North Austin robbed, suspect on loose

Austin police are investigating a bank robbery in North Austin.

Austin police responded to another robbery at a Chase bank branch in North Austin Thursday.

This latest robbery comes after a robbery Wednesday morning at a Chase bank on North Lamar Boulevard.

At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, a robbery was reported five miles away at the Chase bank in the 3300 block of Northland Dr. near Mopac, police confirmed.

Police said the suspect on Northland Drive walked into the bank, gave the teller a note, and the teller complied. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and ran northbound on Highland Hills Drive, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man, 40 to 50 years old, and is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded jacket with a tan "boonie" style hat underneath, light colored pants and black or gray tennis shoes.

Austin police could not immediately confirm if the two Chase bank robberies are connected.
