Iconic East Austin restaurant receives $50K grant to preserve location

The money will go towards preserving the Austin staple.

AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin restaurant that's been around for generations is set to receive some money to help preserve it.

Cisco's Restaurant Bakery & Bar is getting a $50,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The trust partnered with American Express to provide funding to 50 small, historic restaurants across the U.S.

The restaurant opened in the 1950s, and the building it is housed in has stood on East Sixth Street since 1914. Some of the most popular menu items at Cisco's include the migas and huevos rancheros.
