Pedestrian killed after crash in northeast Austin

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the incident happened Wednesday afternoon along East St. Johns Avenue and Interstate 35.

A pedestrian is dead after they were hit by a vehicle in northeast Austin on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 800 block of E. St. Johns Ave.

CPR was conducted on the adult victim, but the person died on the scene, ATCEMS said.

Medics and Austin Fire Department crews responded to the scene. The Austin Police Department is investigating.

In an update on Tuesday, Dec. 5, APD said the driver of the vehicle was not injured, was not intoxicated and is cooperating with the investigation.

The incident is being investigated as Austin's 81st fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 84 deaths for the year.
