Nearly one year after Austin staple Doc's Motorworks said "adios" to South Congress Avenue, it seems even more changes are on the way for the popular tourist hotspot.
New luxury development plans are underway at 1100 S. Congress Ave and some Austinites are worried the city may be losing its originality.
Austin native Jeff Bodenman, a Tenant Adviser at Avison Young, tweeted about a new construction project on South Congress. He has confirmed the plans are real.
Endeavor has four office buildings planned as well as @SohoHouse and @Equinox as tenants.

— Jeff Bodenman (@JeffBodenman) December 6, 2017‘Music Lane’ will parallel South Congress Ave. and house new upscale developments such as SoHo House Austin, Equinox, new retail spaces, hotels and dinning.
Soho House is a private member’s club for creative professionals founded in London in 1995. The exclusive club has locations in Europe and across North America. Equinox is a luxury full-service fitness club with classes, personal training, Pilates, a spa and more.
According to the project plans, ‘Music Lane’ will house over 51,775 square feet of office space with onsite parking and outdoor space.
With the recent closings of popular business landmarks like Doc’s Motorworks, which closed in 2016, and Uncommon Objects, which closed in October of this year, some locals are worried Austin will be just like every other city. Austinites took to Reddit to express their concerns.
