Austinites dominate annual 3M Half Marathon

A record number of runners took to the streets of Austin for the 2015 3M Half Marathon Sunday morning.

AUSTIN -- A record number of runners took to the streets of Austin for the 2015 3M Half Marathon Sunday morning.

The 21st annual event sold out registration at 6,500 runners.

Many locals took the top spots, with 22-year-old UT alumnus Will Nation finishing first in the 13.1-mile race. He had a time of 1:07:01.

Another Austin local, 32-year-old Bryan Morton, crossed the finish line 15 seconds behind Nation.

Austin women nabbed the top three spots in the women's open division. Allison MacSas, 30, claimed the top spotwith a time of 1:13:02. Close behind was Allison Mendez, 26, who crossed the finish with a time of 1:13:20. Nora Colligan rounded out the top three with a time of 1:15:46.

The blue sky and cool temperatures welcomed local Chris Kimbrough, 45, to the finish line as she claimed the 2015 female Masters Division title with a time of 1:17:34.

Race registration for next year will open for the day just after Sunday's race at 2 p.m. The price will be $65. The 2016 race registration will re-open again on May 1, 2015 starting at $75.
