Austin Parks and Recreation has closed Barton Creek Greenbelt from noon Wednesday until further notice due to heavy rainfall current forecasts for the next several days.
According to a release from the department, the decision was made due to trail conditions and high flowing water from upstream dam releases. Officials ask that people do not go around signs that indicate the Greenbelt is closed.
Park rangers will re-evaluate the conditions on a regular basis and update the public when the Greenbelt is safe.
