Man's body recovered from Colorado River in Bastrop

Bastrop police arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a man struggling in the water and not resurfacing.

BASTROP, Texas — The Bastrop Police Department has recovered the body of a man from the Colorado River, south of State Highway 71 and Water Street in Bastrop, not far from Fisherman’s Park. 

On Wednesday at 11 a.m., Bastrop police made a Facebook post saying they received reports of a man struggling in the water who had not resurfaced. The Lower Colorado River Authority and first responders responded to the scene to help with rescue efforts. 

At 12:33 p.m. on Wednesday, Bastrop police provided an update, saying a man's body had been found. They will not reveal the identity of the man until his family is notified.
