Body of missing Westlake teen found in Lake Travis

Austin Ridge Bible Church confirmed that the body found was 15-year-old Sarah Pool.

AUSTIN -- The Travis County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Monday that the female body discovered by a dive team in Lake Travis Saturday was Sarah Pool, the teen who went missing last week.

A dive team discovered her body in Lake Travis at 1:20 p.m. Saturday. According to a press release from the Sheriff's office, Texas Parks and Wildlife assisted the several different search teams through use of sonar on Saturday, resulting in the recovery.

According to KVUE's partners at the Austin American-Stateman, Austin Ridge Bible Church confirmed that the body found was Sarah Pool on Sunday, June 14.

The 15-year-old Westlake teen had been missing since Thursday, after she fell off the back of a boat about a mile from VIP Marina Lake Travis.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office will continue their investigation into the cause of death with Sheriff's detectives.

According to officials, Pool was attending the church's One Wakeboard Camp.

Authorities say Pool got into the water in the Cyprus Creek arm of the lake, holding onto a platform on the boat. When she let go, she went under and didn't resurface.

Poor visibility hindered initial efforts to find Pool. A group of divers had been searching a 400 yard by 400 yard area about 40 feet deep since Thursday. Crews used sonar to help in the search since recent rains left the lake murky and filled with debris.
