Border Patrol agent fires at migrant after assault, law enforcement source says

Sources tell KENS 5 a Border Patrol agent was being attacked by a migrant and the agent fired one shot at the migrant.

QUEMADO, Texas — A Border Patrol agent and migrant were both sent to the hospital for injuries after an incident in which force was used, according to a Customs and Border Patrol statement. 

The incident took place near the border in the Del Rio area near Quemado, Texas on Thursday. 

The statement says Border Patrol agents were involved in a situation during an enforcement action near the border. During this incident the agents were involved in a use of force. Sources tell KENS 5 a Border Patrol agent was being attacked by a migrant and the agent fired one shot at the migrant. 

One migrant was hit and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The agent was also taken to the hospital and treated for injuries sustained during the assault.
