Brad Simpson in court on charges related to disappearance of wife, Suzanne

It's now been two months since his wife Suzanne was last seen and law enforcement have still not recovered a body.

SAN ANTONIO — Brad Simpson appeared in a San Antonio courtroom on Monday morning.

It's now been two months since his wife Suzanne was last seen and law enforcement have still not recovered a body.

This was the first hearing for Brad Simpson since he was indicted for the murder of Suzanne. This case has been complex from the start but so far, her body has not been found.

A grand jury felt there was enough circumstantial evidence to indict Brad, allowing the case to move forward to trial.

The murder indictment does not state how Suzanne was killed, only that Brad is suspected of causing her death.

However, in one of the indictments, Brad is accused of hiding a motorized saw.

The family tells us that saw tested positive for Suzanne's DNA. Brad is also charged with several other felonies, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, tampering with a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a prohibited weapon.

These charges range in punishment from two to 99 years in prison, depending on if Brad is convicted of a crime.

The judge has reset Simpson's next hearing date for Feb. 12 because his attorney will be gone for the rest of the year.

Brad's brother, Barton Simpson spoke out following the hearing.

“My hope is for my brother is that he wants grace and I’m talking spiritual grace and he’s not going to achieve that unless he’s honest, unless he confesses and tells us what he’s done," Barton said.

He said this was the first time he has seen his brother since he was arrested back in October. He said the man he saw in court Monday was not the same man he knew before Suzanne went missing.

"Honestly, it just makes me sad," Barton said.

He is asking people online to be mindful of what they are posting about his family as they continue to grieve and navigate the loss. He added, the children are doing as well as they can considering the circumstances.

“This is not a team sport, this is about seeking justice and doing the right thing and that is why I am so sad because my brother will not do that," Barton said.
