Brinks security guard gets pants taken off during robbery

The suspect held a security guard at gunpoint, police say. The suspect unclothed him from the waist down to reportedly "ensure the guard could not retaliate."

IRVING, Texas — Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying a robbery suspect who took the clothes off a security guard as he was robbing him, according to the Irving Police Department.

On Friday around 9:45 a.m., a suspect got out of a black Malibu and held a Brinks security guard at gunpoint, police say. The suspect then unclothed the security guard from the waist down to "ensure the guard could not retaliate," according to police.

"[The victim] did have a gun belt and a gun as well, so that was the purpose of removing his pants," said Delaney Brey with Irving Police. "I don't think people realize how easily this man could have lost his life."

The suspect, who is believed to be a white or Hispanic male, then got away with a large sum of money.

"We believe he followed the security guard and the Brinks truck from a different location, followed him to the Chase Bank," said Brey.

In cell phone video captured by Eden Soto Alva, you can see the suspect initially holding the security guard facing down on the ground. The suspect then starts tearing off the guard's pants before they get stuck on his shoes. He eventually takes them off, leaving the guard in his underwear and socks.

Soto Alva tells WFAA the victim could be heard saying 'don't shoot me' multiple times.

"You can see in the video his hands are shaking," said Soto Alva.
