Burger King closes after fire in South Austin

Arson investigators are currently on scene to learn more, according to first responders.

AUSTIN, Texas — A South Austin Burger King caught fire early Tuesday morning, according to firefighters.

Responders on the scene said they arrived around 12:40 a.m. to East Ben White Boulevard – not far from Interstate 35 and State Highway 71 – to find a fire at the back of the restaurant.

Crews said the fire spread to the attic and to part of an inside wall but was contained to one side of the building.

Smoke filled the entire restaurant, but firefighters said everyone inside was able to escape and no injuries have been reported.

The fire has since been put out, but the Burger King will not reopen until further notice.

An arson investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

No additional information is available at this time.
