CEDAR PARK, Texas — A Cedar Park man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl from age 4 to 13.
According to Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick, 51-year-old Richard Nicholas Osborn pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child on Monday, Dec. 2.
The victim, who was known to Osborn, told law enforcement about the abuse in the summer of 2022. Despite previous disclosures to her mother, it had not been reported to police.
During the investigation, it was also discovered that Osborn had been charged with sexually assaulting his 10-year-old sister over a period of several years in 1990.
After the sentencing hearing, the victim testified about the years of abuse, its lasting impact and how it affected her future, the district attorney’s office said. Evidence was also presented alleging Osborn had engaged in voyeuristic behavior, peeping over his fence at his neighbors with young children.
“This defendant stole the innocence of a child and caused immeasurable harm. We will continue to pursue justice for victims of child sexual abuse and hold offenders accountable for their heinous crimes,” said Dick.
In addition to his prison sentence, Osborn is required to register as a sex offender for life, and a lifetime protective order has been issued to prevent any contact between Osborn and the victim.
