Central Austin trailer fire kills 1, injures another

The fire happened at a construction trailer on Airport Boulevard at around 5 a.m. Saturday.

AUSTIN, Texas — Homicide detectives, fire investigators and a medical examiner are all investigating a trailer fire after it killed one person and sent another to the hospital.

According to the Austin Fire Department, the fire happened at a construction trailer at 4901 Airport Blvd. in Central Austin at around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters discovered a body inside the trailer. The second victim was transported by Austin-Travis County EMS with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

As of 7:30 a.m. Saturday, AFD, Austin police and the medical examiner were continuing their joint investigation "as is standard," AFD said.

No further details are expected until the autopsy is completed.
