Police searching for suspects who allegedly hit APD officer with car during traffic stop

The suspects reportedly failed to stop before U-turning and accelerating towards officers, hitting one of them.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating two suspects who allegedly hit an officer with a car during a traffic stop and fled the scene.

The incident happened on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at around 4:37 a.m., in the 6400 block of Chimney Creek Circle, just southwest of US. 183 and U.S. 290.

Police said two suspects in a sedan failed to stop and yield to APD officers during the traffic stop. They reportedly turned into Chimney Creek Circle, a cul-de-sac, before U-turning and accelerating towards the officers and the patrol car. One of the officers was hit as the suspects left the area, APD said.

The driver is described as a man, approximately 18 to 25 years old, with black hair in a bowl cut, no facial hair and a tan complexion.

The passenger is described a heavyset man, approximately 18 to 25 years old, with black hair with a dyed blond middle part and a light complexion.

The suspect vehicle is described as possibly a newer model Lexus sedan, silver or gray in color.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact APD at 512-974-5177 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
