CEDAR PARK, Texas — Residents at a Cedar Park retirement community can now worship together in the common area after church services were banned on the property.
In a February newsletter, The Ranch at Cedar Park told residents after more than a decade that they could no longer gather for worship in the community's movie theater. However, the residents were allowed to have service in their own apartment rooms.
The retirement community confirmed to KVUE on Tuesday, Feb. 24, that the ban had been reinstated on Feb. 11. KVUE originally reached out to Capstone Real Estate Services, the firm that owns the retirement community, on Feb. 11 and Feb. 12 for a statement, but they did not respond until Tuesday.

The residents had to hold church services in their apartments on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10, but services were available in the movie theater again on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Capstone Management said they were unaware of the management decision that was made to not hold religious services in the theater. They said when corporate was made aware of the situation, it was corrected and services were reinstated in the theater.
One resident at the community told KVUE she had never been denied the opportunity to worship in the common area.
"That’s my faith and whenever I’m denied that fellowship with others gathering together, my heart broke," said Jean Hinkle, who has lived at the community for more than 14 years.
